Coconut Sugar is also called Coconut Palm Sugar. It is a natural sugar made from sap of the coconut plant; NOT to be confused with Palm Sugar, which is similar but made from a different type of palm tree. Coconut Sugar retains quite a bit of the nutrients found in the coconut palm including Iron, Zinc, Calcium and Potassium, along with some fatty acids, switching from regular sugar to coconut palm sugar could prevent the blood sugar crashes that make you hungry and then cause you to gain weight.
Coconut Sugar can be used similarly to regular sugar, use an ingredients in baked goods and pastries. Sprinkle on top of ice cream and smoothies or even sweeten you coffee or tea in the morning. There are hundreds of possibilities!
